BIO

Tim is an experienced company adviser, part-time academic, and published author, focused on the mining industry.

He is a director of Grainge Advisory Limited, which provides advisory and consultancy services to companies, investors and other organisations, primarily in the mining sector. Clients have included FTSE 100 and Fortune 500 mining companies. Recent work has involved in-depth asset reviews and valuations for two ‘global top 10’ mining companies, as part of a small team of mining experts.

Tim is Professor of Practice in Management and Mining at the Camborne School of Mines, part of the University of Exeter, in a part-time capacity. CSM is one of the world’s leading centres of mining education.

He is a Principal with KWR Capital, which works with companies in the resources sector, connecting capital to those who need it.

Tim has written a book entitled “Mining – Why It’s Essential for a Sustainable Future”, which was published by Polity Press in June 2025.

Tim retired from Deloitte LLP at the end of 2020 after 21 years as a partner of the global firm. He was, most recently, Deloitte’s UK and EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) Sector Leader for Mining & Metals. He was previously the Managing Partner for Deloitte Queensland, Australia.

Tim lives in Putney, South West London and is married to Belinda. They have four adult children.
