Innovation across the Mining Cycle: Tackling Europe’s Raw Material Challenges

Every mining project presents a range of technical challenges, and opportunities, across the mining cycle, from exploration to closure. In the context of Europe’s evolving raw material demands, applying innovative tools and technologies can unlock cumulative value and strengthen project delivery. This presentation highlights real-world examples of innovation in three critical domains: geological modelling, mineral processing test work, and mine waste management. While many of these tools remain at an early stage of adoption in Europe, they are rapidly gaining traction as developers seek faster, cleaner, and more efficient ways to evaluate and deliver responsible mining projects aligned with EU policy and sustainability goals.
