Dr. James Watson is a seasoned professional with over 25 years of experience in industry, public policy and government. He joined Eurometaux, the European non-ferrous metals industry association, as Director General in 2024. Prior to this role, he served as the Secretary General of Eurogas, the European Gas Industry Association, for six years. Before his tenure at Eurogas, Dr. Watson was CEO of SolarPower Europe for 5 years, representing the interest of the European solar industry to the European Institutions. He has worked as Director of Public Affairs at Weber Shandwick in Brussels, also as a Trade Policy Advisor for the Commonwealth Secretariat based in Ethiopia, and held a number of academic and policy positions prior to that. He is a published academic on international trade law, environmental law and public policy. He has also been a Visiting Professor at the VUB in Brussels.
