BIO

Luís Chambel works at the intersection of mineral exploration, environmental data integration, and investment-readiness in frontier regions. His current projects focus on linking biodiversity monitoring—including eDNA sampling and remote sensing—with sustainable exploration practices and emerging ESG frameworks such as the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD).

He is the Managing Partner of Sínese, a consulting firm with over 30 years of international activity, and also serves as Vice President Exploration for GCT Resources and Director at JBDM’s Board.

Luís holds a PhD in Engineering Sciences and a degree in Mining Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico – UTL, along with master’s degrees in Engineering Geology (FCT–UNL) and Business Administration (FE–UNL). He completed a postdoctoral project at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Brazil).

He is a Eur Ing and Eur Geol, a senior member of the Portuguese Order of Engineers, and a Fellow of the Society of Economic Geologists (SEG). He is also a member of SME, APG - the Portuguese Association of Geologists, and IMEB - Iberian Mining Engineers Board. He contributes to advancing reporting standards as a member of the PERC Training Subcommittee and was recently involved in drafting Angola’s public reporting code, aligned with CRIRSCO.

Luís speaks regularly at international forums and contributes to cross-border cooperation on resource governance, ESG alignment, and exploration best practices.

Bridging the Gap in Early-Stage Exploration: From PERC and UNFC to TNFD - Reducing Risk and Enhancing Investment Readiness Through Integrated Reporting

This presentation explores how mineral reporting frameworks—PERC and UNFC—can be strategically complemented by emerging ESG disclosure tools such as TNFD to reduce risk and support investment decisions in early-stage exploration. It highlights the distinct but compatible roles of each: PERC ensures technical transparency and compliance, UNFC provides a forward-looking structure for project maturity and resource classification, and TNFD brings nature-related risks and dependencies into the investment conversation. Drawing from recent work in frontier regions, the presentation examines how integrating technical, environmental, and financial narratives improves project comparability, credibility, and capital access. For investors, it offers a clearer understanding of project exposure, uncertainty, and long-term value. For technical professionals, it shows how to frame exploration outcomes in ways that resonate with both regulatory and financial stakeholders. Reporting today is no longer just a technical obligation—it is a strategic tool for building confidence in resource development under increasing ESG scrutiny.
