Martin Wolfgang Tauber has over 30 year’s experience in different raw material related industries, whereas Magnesium has been the most significant one, with executive positions at leading industry players like Hydro Magnesium and Magontec. In 2009, he founded FAURIS, a company which provides industry services on a global basis. Martin is also European Representative and former Chairman of the European Committee of the IMA (International Magnesium Association) and founding President of the Critical Raw Material Alliance. Martin is also a registered expert of the EU.

Magnesium Metal: Strategic Relevance and Outlook for Europe

Magnesium occupies a highly critical and strategic position in both European and international raw material policies. Its importance is growing, not only in transport and mobility sectors but also in defence applications. Despite this, China continues to dominate global magnesium supply. As a lightweight, green, and sustainable metal, magnesium offers unique advantages for modern industry. This presentation examines Europe’s opportunities and challenges in securing long-term access to magnesium and in reinforcing its position within the global value chain.
