🇬🇧 🇨🇦 🇵🇹 Strengthening Global Ties in Mining Innovation

As part of the MINEX Europe 2025 Delegation, we had the honour of representing the Centre for Excellence in Mining Innovation (CEMI) and the Mining Innovation Commercialization Accelerator (MICA) Network at a private reception at the British Embassy Lisbon, hosted by British Ambassador to Portugal, Lisa Bandari.

Representing CEMI | Centre for Excellence in Mining Innovation and MICA | Mining Innovation Commercialization Accelerator were Chamirai C. Nyabeze and Lorelei Ratushniak and we both felt honoured to represent Canada among such an inspiring international gathering.

It was a pleasure to listen to the Ambassador’s opening remarks and spend a few moments discussing Canada’s mining sector, investment opportunities in Africa, and our shared commitment to advancing responsible and sustainable mining.

Building on her opening remarks, we also exchanged perspectives on Portugal’s growing mining potential—particularly in lithium and tungsten, two critical minerals essential to the energy transition—and spoke about Savannah Resources PLC listed on the London Stock Exchange (https://lnkd.in/gUCSkj3B).

The discussion reaffirmed how collaboration between Canada, the UK, and Portugal can strengthen transatlantic partnerships, drive investment in critical minerals, and support a more sustainable and resilient global mining ecosystem.

(And yes, I couldn’t resist mentioning that I share a name with His Majesty King Charles 👑)
