It was a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with old friends in the mining industry and make valuable new connections.
The forum’s theme was “Securing Critical Raw Materials for a Sustainable Future in Europe.” We explored the increasing demand in Europe for materials as diverse as bauxite, boron, cobalt, copper, tungsten, germanium, lithium, magnesium and manganese. The discussions highlighted just how dependent we are on these materials for modern life, from smartphones to electric vehicles to renewable energy infrastructure and defence. And how much more we will need to support the digitalisation and green initiatives in Europe in the coming years.
What stood out was the caliber of the presentations and the depth of expertise in the room. Industry leaders shared insights on everything from supply chain resilience, financing new projects and sustainable extraction methods. Europe is taking a proactive approach to securing access to these critical resources while balancing environmental and social considerations. But are we moving quickly enough given shifting global geopolitics?
Thanks to Arthur Poliakov and the Advantix team for putting together such a well-organized and informative event. The quality of both the content and the connections made it time well spent. Looking forward to the next one.
