It has been a pleasure to reconnect with familiar faces and make new connections across the mining, energy, and critical minerals sectors, such a dynamic community of people shaping Europe’s resource future.
I spoke about project development and delivery challenges across the battery value chain, exploring how ambition, capability, and alignment come together (or fall apart) from early stage development through to operational readiness. A special highlight was being hosted by The British Ambassador to Portugal and Cape Verde for an evening of networking and conversation at her Lisbon residence, a wonderful setting for meaningful dialogue about collaboration, investment, and Europe’s strategic ambitions for critical raw materials.
The conversations this week reinforced for me how significant the opportunity is for Europe to develop its own critical minerals capacity, and to support the industries driving us toward a more sustainable, technologically advanced, and electrified future. I am genuinely optimistic about the level of collaboration and capability emerging across the continent. The momentum is there; now it is about execution, alignment, and collective resolve.
